Our Mission:
Our mission is to provide safe, stable, and unwavering support to children who have been identified by police as victims of sexual exploitation and trafficking in Montgomery County, Maryland. Our Safe and Stay Responder will remain with the child who is coping with the aftermath of severe physical, sexual, and emotional trauma. We work to bring a child comfort and with the power of unconditional positive nurturing, be the first step on their road to healing.
Is human trafficking really a problem in Montgomery County?
Short answer? YES.
Montgomery County Human Trafficking Statistics:
According to the 2019 annual police report released by the Montgomery County Police Department, only a few people were charged and/or arrested for human trafficking in Montgomery County. The number of victims identified is unknown.
*It is important to note, due to the highly secretive nature of human trafficking, other related offenses listed on the report may be linked to a human trafficking operation, but perpetrators were not charged for human trafficking specifically.
Criminal offenses that are significantly correlated with human trafficking include, but are not limited to:
kidnapping
intimidation
money laundering
tax evasion
theft/withholding of documents
extortion/blackmail
forced labor
rape
prostitution/assisting prostitution
pornography

“Authorities made hundreds of arrests and rescued dozens of adult and juvenile victims during an annual statewide operation to combat human trafficking, Los Angeles law enforcement agencies announced Thursday.
More than 100 federal, state and local agencies, and task forces participated in “Operation Reclaim and Rebuild” across California, between Jan. 26 and Feb. 1, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The statewide effort resulted in 450 people arrested, 51 of which were for an alleged felony crime. During the weeklong operation, 39 victims were rescued, including 13 children. ”
